Newspaper columnists  who take themselves and everything they write too seriously and don't spare a hint of humor, do so from the top of his columns, like Simeon Stylites, the unbridled masochist father of the sackcloth . On the other hand, newspaper columnists who use humor in their writings often pleasantly scratch their backs againts their own columns, at ground level, where society is best apprecaited, the lies of scoundrels are best exposed, revealing their ridiculousness, offering a lenient view on the human condition and making a joke of life, since writers who use humor usually do it with will and intelligence, and therefore with style.
